HOME,
SPRINGFIELD CITY HALL
Welcome to Springfield's official web
site. On February 26, 1935 thirty-eight qualified voters
gathered to select officers and organize a new municipal
government. Sam Roberts was elected as the first Mayor; Mrs A. S.
Weeks, Town Clerk and Jasper Jasperson, Town Marshall. Five
Aldermen were elected by this group of thirty-eight voters: J. T.
Webb, Joel S. Suggs, B. C. Strother, R. E. Anderson and Dave
Cutchin. Springfield was born. Today Springfield is a warm, friendly community of over
9,000 residents. It is one of the more progressive cities in
Bay County with four schools, full time Police and Fire
Departments, twenty-two churches, five medical facilities,
television cable system owned and operated by the City, three major
